Dream Loop Elfenlay
Where can you find the largest bend on the Rhine? Where is the steepest Railway Line in Germany? The answer? In Boppard, the Pearl on the Rhine! On the Elfenlay Dream Loop you will have wonderful views of the Bopparder Hamm which, with its 75 hectares of vineyards, is the largest wine-growing region on the Middle Rhine. The river Rhine changes its course by 180 degrees in a double S bend. The most beautiful views can be seen from the viewpoints at Elfenlay and Sabelsköpfchen. A sensational attraction is the Hunsrück Mountain Railway, which was opened in 1908 and is a historical heritage. From Boppard to Buchholz the train must overcome a height of 336 metres in just 6 kilometres! On this part of the walk, between Boppard and Buchholz, you have a chance to see the viaduct over the Hubertus gorge at Liesenfeld’s Hütte which is 50 metres high!
